"Concerned of Odia families reportedly stranded in #DarjeelingUnrest. Request @HMOIndia & @MamataOfficial to intervene & arrange safe return," Patnaik tweeted as state Tourism Minister Ashok Panda took up the matter with his West Bengal counterpart.
Panda said that efforts were being made to evacuate the tourists from the troubled region. "I have spoken to West Bengal Tourism Minister in this regard," he said.
West Bengal Tourism Minister had assured to extend all support for safe return of tourists to Odisha, he added.
The tourists who are in the trouble-hit Darjeeling have informed their families over phone that they are unable to come out of the hotels due to the activities of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) supporters.
