Stressing proper implementation of efforts to eradicate malnutrition, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has called for regular monitoring of the quality of supplementary nutritional food being served to children in anganwadis of the state.
Singh has also decided to conduct surprise inspections of anganwadis (government-run child and women care centres) to check whether the directives were being properly followed or not.
"The Chief Minister issued directives in this regard during a meeting of Women and Child Development department chaired by him here last evening," an official release said today.
He asked the officials of the department to properly maintain the quality of supplementary nutritional food given to children.
Singh said he may carry out surprise inspection of the anganwadis to check the quality of supplement food and on finding any problem with its standard, stern action will be taken against the guilty officials and employees, it said.
During the meeting, he asked to reserve beds in government as well as private hospitals for better treatment of malnourished children, the release said.
While reviewing the other schemes of the department, he asked the officials to ensure incentives to the newly-wed couples under 'Nishakt Jan Vivaah Protsahan Yojana' for differently-abled people as early as possible.
Officials were also directed to hold camps to distribute artificial body parts and aid equipment to disabled across the state.
For the purpose, Singh also asked to rope in NGOs and chalk out a working plan for the next three years, the release added.
