The new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath, has effected transfers of several senior IAS officers Wednesday, but retained Ashok Barnwal as his principal secretary.
Barnwal (1991 batch) was also the principal secretary of Nath's predecessor, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
P Narhari (2001 batch) was also retained as commissioner-cum-secretary of the public relations department and managing director of Madhyam, official sources said.
The government transferred Vivek Agrawal (1994 batch), who was also principal secretary to the former chief minister and secretary of the urban administration department, to the public health engineering department.
Another principal secretary to the former chief minister Hariranjan Rao (1994 batch) was transferred from the CM's office.
However, he will continue as the principal secretary of the tourism department.
Vivek Agrawal was replaced by Pramod Agrawal (1991 batch) as principal secretary in the urban administration department.
He will also hold the post of managing director of Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Company Limited.
Renu Tiwari (2000 batch) has been posted as secretary, culture department. She will take the charge from Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Manoj Shrivastava who was Tuesday night posted as Vice Chancellor of Sanchi University of Buddhist-Indic Studies.
Rewa Divisional Commissioner Mahesh Chandra Jain was shifted to the Mantralaya (state secretariat).
Shahdol Commissioner J K Jain has been given the additional charge as the Rewa Divisional Commissioner.
In Kamal Nath's home turf Chhindwara, district Superintendent of Police Atul Singh was transferred to the police headquarters in Bhopal. He has been replaced with Manoj Rai.
