CM reviews preparation of Food Security scheme launch

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today directed officials to start a statewide campaign from August 16 to select remaining eligible persons in rural and urban areas under the ambitious Food Security Scheme.
Maintaining that transparency in the selection process should be ascertained according to the spirit of the Food Security Ordinance, the Chief Minister said steps should be taken so that eligible persons are not deprived of the scheme's benefits.
Presiding over the review meeting of preparation for implementation of the Food Security Ordinance here at the CMR here, Gehlot said 69 per cent rural population and 53 per cent urban population with a total of 90 lakh people will be provided food security under the Ordinance.

Under the scheme 38.83 lakh poor families included in Mukhyamantri Ann Suraksha Yojana, 50 lakh people covered in 30 categories including Mukhyamantri Jeevan Raksha Kosh and people covered under national Health Insurance scheme need not fill up forms while remaining 40 lakh people are required to be brought under the scheme from rural and urban areas, Gehlot said.
The Chief Minister also directed on simplification of set standard for eligibility so that eligible persons find it easy in filling forms.
Food and Civil supplies minister Parsadi Lal Meena, Education minister Brij Kishore Sharma and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
