CMFRI completes artificial reef deployment in 5 districts

With a view to enhance fish production, the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) has completed the process of deploying artificial coral reefs in the sea off five coastal districts in Tamil Nadu.
Coral reefs play a vital role in fish production. CMFRI has taken up the project at a total cost of Rs 1.83 crore.
"CMFRI has so far deployed artificial coral reefs in Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Pudukottai, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallore, Dr Joe Kizhakudan, Principal Scientist, CMFRI said.
