"A high-level delegation led by Admiral Yuji Sato, the Commandant, Japan Coast Guard (JCG), is on an official visit to India from 12-15 January for the meeting and combined exercises with Indian Coast Guard (ICG)," a Coast Guard release said here.
The visit is in pursuance of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC), signed between the two Coast Guards on November 24, 2006, which stipulates that the heads of the two organizations meet every year to discuss maritime issues of mutual concerns and formulate a cooperative approach to address these.
The Indian delegation in this interaction was headed by Coast Guard chief Vice Admiral Anurag G Thapliyal along with Additional Director General Rajendra Singh.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed progress on bilateral issues and discussed new measures for strengthening the cooperation on evolving collaborative approach in addressing a spectrum of issues concerning maritime safety and security.
