Code violation complaint cancels minister's meeting

A meeting of the Trinamool Congress in Malda district was cancelled and two temporary gates erected to welcome state minister Sabitri Mitra were dismantled after opposition CPI(M) lodged a complaint of violation of model code of conduct, district officials said.
Followers of Mitra, the minister of Refugee Relief & Rehabilitation, had arranged a meeting of clubs that got the state government's financial help.
They also erected two temporary gates to welcome Mitra.
Over this, the CPI(M) lodged a complaint with the district magistrate alleging violation of model code of conduct and the administration intervened, officials said.
The meeting was cancelled and the gates dismantled.
