The honorory Doctor of Health Science was conferred on Palanivelu, Chairman of Gem Hospital and Research Centre, by Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford and Cambridge Entrepreneur University.
The award was in recognition for his excellent service in promoting modern health care in United Kingdom and other foreign countries, an hospital release said today.
Palanivelu was presented with the honour during a convocation, where vice chancellor, Prof. Michael Thorne, read out citation appreciating his services.
Recipient of Dr B C Roy award, Palanivelu was conferred with Honorary FRCS and Fellow Ad-Homium, the highest honor of Royal College of Edinburh in the year 2004.
