Cold wave, dense fog prevail in UP

Intense cold conditions continued unabated in Uttar Pradesh as fog enveloped many parts of the state, causing poor visibility.
Night temperatures were recorded appreciably below normal in Varanasi, Faizabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad, Agra divisions, below normal in Gorakhpur, Allahabad and Meerut divisions and normal in the remaining parts of the state, MeT department here said.
Agra was coldest in the state, recording mercury at 3.3 degrees Celsius.
There was no let up in the chill in the capital city here despite the sun shinning bright.
MeT department predicted dry weather and fog at most places over the state and cold wave conditions and ground frost at isolated places.
