The high altitude tribal areas reeled under piercing cold wave conditions with mercury hovering around freezing point while mid and higher hills shivered under cold wave conditions with mercury staying 3 to 5 degree Celsius below normal.
Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur district and key tourist destination of Manali recorded minimum temperature at 6.5 degree and 2 degree below normal, respectively.
However, Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district recorded the minimum temperature at 10.9 degree, 9 degree above normal.
However, there was not much variation in maximum temperatures and Una was the hottest in the region with a high of 32.4 deg, followed by Bhuntar 30.5 deg, Sundernagar 29.8 deg, Nahan 27.4 deg, Dharamsala 27.2 deg, Shimla 23.3 deg and Kalpa 19.6 degree Celsius.
The local MeT office has predicted dry weather in the region over next four days.
