Cold wave persists in Punjab, Har

Cold wave conditions continued to prevail at several places in Punjab and Haryana today with poor visibility due to fog affecting transport services in both the states.
According to the MeT here, fog reduced visibility at a few places in Punjab and Haryana early today.
Atleast six flights of private carriers to Delhi and Mumbai stood delayed today, officials said.
Rail traffic also took a hit, with many trains running late or delayed by hours. These included the Lucknow Chandigarh Sadbhavna Express, which was delayed by over four and a half hours, Howrah-Kalka Mail by nearly twelve hours and Sainagar Shirdi-Kalka by nearly 90 minutes.
Narnaul in Haryana was the coldest place in the two states recording a minimum temperature of 4.5 degree Celsius while Amritsar in Punjab registered a low of 5.5 degrees.
Patiala's low settled at 7.9 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature in Ludhiana was recorded at 7.8 degrees.
The minimum temperatures at Ambala, Karnal and Bhiwani in Haryana were recorded at 7, 7.6 and 8 degree Celsius respectively.
Hisar recorded an increase in its night temperature today, registering a minimum at 10.1 degree Celsius.
Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature at 8.6 degree Celsius even as the conditions remained cloudy here today.
The day temperatures in the region have fallen sharply since yesterday.
Yesterday's maximum temperature at most places settled 5-7 notches below normal.
The maximum temperature at Chandigarh, Ambala, Karnal, Amritsar yesterday were recorded at 14.5, 15.2, 13.6 and 13.5 degree Celsius respectively.
The maximum temperature at Ludhiana and Patiala yesterday were recorded at 13.2 and 14.1 degrees respectively.
