Old books and pens, film posters, walking sticks, vintage watches, rare photographs, a rare projector besides a range of pre-Independence era postcards are among various collectibles set to go under hammer in a three-tier sale by Artdeal auction house.
The 'Spring Auction 2015' scheduled here on April 26 is a combination of three consecutive auctions -- Collectibles, Folk and Tribal Art as well as work by Modern and Contemporary masters of Indian art -- in a single day, auctioneers said.
A Bhupen Khaker tea pot, some finely carved walking sticks and a 'pankha' in sandal wood, unique candle sticks, old artifacts, bronzes, old books, posters and lobby cards and song books of old films featuring yesteryear actors such as - Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Satyajit Ray find place in the first auction on Collectibles.
The second sale of Folk and tribal art unveils the indigenous arts of India. These include paintings and sculptures by renowned folk artists like Jangarh Singh, rare patachitra art of Orissa, mica paintings from Bihar and the Kalighats of Bengal.
The eclectic melange contains artworks from the Indian folk and tribal art diaspora.
The third part of the auction comprises a more familiar array of names, of the modern masters like M F Husain, Ramkumar, H S Raza, V S Gaitonde, Satish Gujral, Nikhil Biswas, B. Prabha, Badri Narayan, Sudhir Khastgir, Vivan Sundaram, Paresh Maity.
Alongside, the works of legendary Bengal School masters like Tagores Gaganendranath and Abanindranath, Jamini Roy, Nand Lal Bose, and the likes will go under the hammer, auctioneers said.
"An omnibus catalog, available online with estimates, shall assure the buyers that they will get good value for money through fair and transparent pricing for the well documented items being sold," auctioneers said.
The auction has been organised by Siddhartha Tagore, who held his first auction 'Preserve the Web of Life' in the year 1998 in association with the WWF India.
