Former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal Monday took a swipe at his successor Amarinder Singh, asking him to "come with armfuls of gifts" in shape of "promises fulfilled" during rally at Lambi, the former's home turf.
A day after Amarinder Singh announced to hold a rally in Lambi, Badal reminded him that the chief minister had contested from the assembly constituency in 2017.
Amarinder Singh had contested on Lambi and Patiala seats in 2017 Assembly polls. But he was defeated from Lambi assembly constituency.
"Even though it banished you, it is still in some way your constituency because you had made promises to the people here. Please come with armfuls of gifts for the people here in the form of promises fulfilled and I will personally welcome you," Badal said in a statement here.
On Sunday, Amarinder Singh had announced to hold a rally at Badal's home turf Lambi in last week of September to take on the former chief minister over his "misleading claims" on sacrilege incidents.
"I am glad that our rally has forced you to think of people and to come out of your pleasure dome, though this is an expensive for us to help the people of Punjab to see the face of their chief minister. It seems we will have to hold a rally every time we want the chief minister to come out to serve the people," Badal said while taking a dig at him.
Badal said that he was glad that Captain Singh will come and meet the people of Lambi.
"He (Amarinder Singh) had completely forgotten Lambi after making tall promises during the campaign. However, that is a small issue and I do not intend to let it come in the way of my welcoming you," he said.
Badal reminded Amarinder Singh his poll promises of total debt waiver, jobs for each house, Rs 51,000 Shagun scheme among others.
