State-owned NHPC today announced commencement of commercial operations of the third unit of Teesta Low Dam Hydro Electric Project.
"Consequent upon successful trial run of Unit no 3 of Teesta Low Dam HE Project Stage IV (4 x 40 MW) at its installed capacity of 40 MW for continuous 12 hours on July 12, 2016, the unit 3 is hereby declared under commercial operation with effect from 00:00 hours of July 17, 2016," NHPC said in a filing to BSE.
Further, 100 per cent power generated from TLDP-IV has been allocated to the state of West Bengal and the same shall be supplied through West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (WBSEDCL), it said.
On July 5, NHPC had informed BSE that the 40 MW Unit-3 of Teesta Low Dam Hydro Electric Project (TLDP-IV) has been synchronised with grid on July 1.
"Unit-III of TLDP-IV has been loaded up to full load (40 MW) successfully on July 3, subsequent to its synchronisation with grid on July 1," NHPC had informed.
The TLDP-IV project (4 X 40MW) is a run of the river scheme with diurnal storage for peaking purpose. The estimated annual energy generation is 720 MU (million units) in a 90 per cent dependable year.
The project area is located at about 350 meter upstream of Teesta Kalikhola confluence on NH-31A and 18.3 km downstream of Teesta Bridge near Teesta Bazar village in Darjeeling.
