Commercial taxmen educate biz firms on GST migration
Press Trust of India Kolkata The Directorate of Commercial Taxes has launched a special drive to educate business firms on ways to migrate to new Goods and Services taxes (GST) from value added tax.
The officials are visiting districts to inform business houses the proper way to switch.
A similar exercise was conducted at MCC Chamber of Commerce where Joint Commissioner N Ghosh made a presentation and interacted with the members guiding them on the switchover.
There is no automatic migration from VAT to GST.
"If you have a VAT registration that does not mean that you will automatically be migrated to GST," Ghosh said to clear the confusion.
Ghosh said the government is keen on latest data for registration.
