A 12-member Joint House Committee was today constituted by Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council to inquire into the "misplacing" of items from Toshkhana following a fire at Mubarak Mandi Historical Complex in Jammu in February 2009.
Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali constituted the committee and asked it to submit its report before the next session of the Assembly, an official spokesman said.
He said the committee will be headed by National Conference MLC Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo with legislators Rani Gargi Blowria, G N Monga, Surinder Kumar Chowdhary, Vikramaditya, Sofi Yousuf, S Charanjeet Singh, Ajaz Ahmad Khan, Rajesh Gupta, Choudhary Qamar Hussain, Kamal Verma and Pawan Kumar Gupta as its members.
On June 16, the state government had announced a probe by a Joint House Committee after its reply with regard to 2009 fire incident in the heritage monument and the reasons for demolishing the park and historical Chabutra there, failed to satisfy the members.
The members had pressed for constitution of a House Committee to enquire into the misplacing of the items from Toshkhana.
Minister for Technical Education had agreed to constitute the Joint House Committee in this regard.
