The committee will specifically suggest ways to put an end to the encroachment on land belonging to Wakf Board. It will also make efforts to recover rent amount from various shop-keepers who were given commercial space by the board.
The decision to set up the committee was taken at a meeting Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had with representatives of the Wakf Board, Delhi.
The delegation was led by Wakf Board chairman and senior Congress MLA Mateen Ahmed.
Officials said the Committee is likely to be chaired by Dikshit and Revenue Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely and Divisional Commissioner Dharampal are likely to be its members besides chairman of the Wakf Board.
