Kodakil Vellamuddan Chandran, the victim, arrived here by Kochivili-LTT Garib Rath Express at around 11 am on the platform number 8. Getting down from the train, which was still in motion, he slipped into the gap between the platform and the rake, the GRP said.
He was given oxygen and administered some treatment while trapped. A portion of the platform was broken to extricate him, but he could not be saved, they said.
Death or injuries due to falling into the gap between the train and the platform are commonly reported in Mumbai and neighbouring areas.
