Complainants to get FIR copies through WhatsApp in Maharashtra

Maharashtra DGP has instructed police to send the complainants FIR copies through WhatsApp to avoid any delay

In a bid to make the complainants of the case get FIR copies faster, Maharashtra DGP Praveen Dixit has instructed police personnel to send them the document through social messaging platform WhatsApp.

Dixit told PTI today that he has given the said instructions in this regard.

He said the complainants (after lodging the FIR) can also take photographs of it through their (mobile or other) camera.

In most of the cases, complainants used to get the FIR copies a day or two late after it was signed and checked properly by the police, a senior police official said.

Now after this move, the complainants will be able to get the copies of the FIR quickly, he added.
