Congress in Odisha today launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJD, terming it as an "opportunistic party" devoid of any ideology and claimed that the latter has struck an understanding with BJP to protect its leaders from CBI probe into scandals like chit fund scam.
"BJD is an opportunistic political party which happens to be the 'B' team of BJP. In fact, BJD and BJP are just like two sides of the same coin," AICC Spokesperson Sushmita Dev told reporters here.
Describing BJD as a political party without any ideological base, she alleged it was clear that the regional outfit had entered into an understanding with BJP in view of chit fund scam which was being investigated by CBI and many of its leaders were allegedly embroiled in these cases.
Guided by opportunism, the BJD had been working in a fashion which favoured BJP, Dev said adding that in Parliament also BJD was supportive towards the NDA and it facilitated passage of certain bills at the cost of people's interest.
"Though the BJD had been attacking the Centre from time to time accusing it of neglecting Odisha, in reality the Naveen-led regional party had a tacit understanding with BJP, the Congress leader said.
Terming the performance of Naveen Government as "highly disappointing", she alleged corruption was rampant in the state which needed to be effectively exposed. Congress needed to launch a vigorous campaign against the "misrule and corruption" during BJD rule, Dev said.
