Congress tonight kept the sword of disciplinary action dangling over former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi whose son Amit Jogi was expelled last month for alleged anti-party activities.
A meeting of AICC's Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) chaired by senior leader A K Antony discussed the "agenda in detail" and will take action in "due course of time", a statement released by its member secretary Motilal Vora said.
The Committee which met for over two hours this evening discussed the report sent by Chhattisgarh PCC chief Bhupesh Baghel about the expulsion of Amit from the party for a period of six years and the appeal filed by him against the action.
Party sources said that the report of the PCC President on Ajit Jogi was also discussed in detail. The meeting was attended by senior leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Sushil Kumar Shinde.
Congress high command had last month expelled Amit Jogi, an MLA, over alleged "fixing" of a 2014 assembly bypoll.
The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee had also passed a resolution seeking the party high command's nod for showing the door to his father and the state's former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi over the Antagarh assembly bypoll audio tape row.
The action had come days after audio tapes emerged suggesting financial inducements behind the party candidate's withdrawal from the fray to facilitate the victory of BJP candidate.
The purported conversations between key political players of that time also hinted at the role of Ajit Jogi and Amit.
Both Ajit and Amit Jogi had denied their involvement in the unsavoury episode.
