Cong fumes, protests after 'cancellation' of invite to Hooda

Congress party today held a protest and burnt effigy of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here after the Haryana government "cancelled" an invite to Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda for 'Bhoomi Pujan' ceremony of National Cancer Institute two days back.
The party workers protested in front of the Congress Bhawan after the state government allegedly cancelled the invite for the ceremony at Bhadsa village in Jhajjar district two days back.
They raised anti-government slogans and termed the development an "insult" of democracy and of the people of Hooda's constituency
The protesters, including Congress leaders Ram Niwas Ghorela, Vinod Bhayana and Ram Bhagat Sharma, said the "cancellation is not just a mistake but a social, political and moral sin and the government should apologies for it".

The event was attended by Union Health Minister J P Nadda and Chief Minister Khattar among others.
"The BJP government with its action to cancel the invitation to an elected public representative at the last moment without any valid reason has hurt the sentiments of people of Haryana," Ghorela alleged.

It was perhaps the first time that an official invitation was cancelled in this manner, the protesters claimed.
Earlier on yesterday Hooda had alleged his invitation to the programme was cancelled at the last moment.
"As I was preparing to leave for the function yesterday, I received a call from the Deputy Commissioner, Jhajjar, who told me I should not come since my invite had been cancelled.
