Sabyasachi Dutta filed FIR against Monirul Islam claiming that he had yesterday publicly threatened to finish him (Dutta) off if he came in the way of TMC's electioneering, police said.
Islam, who had joined TMC from Forward Bloc, was addressing a public meeting at Sainthia yesterday where he reportedly threatened "to finish Bapi Dutta (as Sabyasachi is popularly known in the area) if he worked against the Trinamool activists," local Congress sources alleged.
Police said the complaint was being investigated.
The polls in Birbhum are part of the fourth phase elections in West Bengal.
