Anant was welcomed in the BJP fold and given membership of the party by state party president Laxmi Kant Bajpai here.
"Today Anant Vikram Singh of royal family of Amethi along with his supporters is taking membership of the party and we welcome them in BJP," Bajpai said.

Bajpai said he has confidence that all those taking membership will work for the expansion of the party in their respective areas to ensure BJP's victory in the 2017 Assembly polls.
"Efforts should be made that maximum youths and women are made members at the booth level," Bajpai said.
Anant has a strained relationship with his father Sanjay Singh, who is currently a Rajya Sabha MP from Assam.
Former BSP MLA Bhagwan Pathak and former vice-president of SP Brahmin Sabha Rajeev Shukla also joined BJP.
