Congress is staring at a rout in Tamil Nadu and faces a big drop in its seats in Andhra Pradesh but is likely to emerge as the lead player in Karnataka and Kerala in Lok Sabha elections, an opinion poll projected today.
The BJP-led NDA alliance can get 6-10 seats in Tamil Nadu where ruling AIADMK is projected to win 15-21 seats and DMK 10-16 seats, it said.
According to the opinion poll conducted by CNN-IBN-The Week Poll Tracker, Congress is unlikely to open its account in Tamil Nadu.
The poll has projected 12-18 seats for Congress in Karnataka, where it is in power, against 7-13 seats for BJP.
Congress-led UDF alliance is also leading in Kerala with 11-18 seats while the Left Front has been projected to win 4-8 seats, it said.
The prospects of Congress remain gloomy in Andhra Pradesh where it has been projected to win only 4-8 seats out of a total 42 constituencies, the poll said
TDP has pushed Jaganmohan Reddy-led YSR Congress behind to the second spot and it may end up winning 13-19 seats, it said.
The opinion poll has given 9-15 seats to YSR Congress and 4-8 seats to TRS, whose impact in confined to Telangana.
In the opinion poll, 20,957 voters were surveyed across 1,340 locations of 301 randomly selected parliamentary constituencies.
Four polling stations were selected in each segment.
