Congress workers today burnt an effigy of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje at Gandhi Circle here demanding arrest of accused who looted a jeweller and gangraped his wife in the city on September 19.
Holding a sit-in under the banner of Sakar Mahila Vikas Samiti, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Archna Sharma said the incidents of rape, crime against women, loot, and robbery were increasing day by day in the BJP rule in last 10 months.
Referring to the September 19 incident of Jaipur city's Vaishali Nagar area where the jeweller was stabbed, and his wife was gang raped by robbers, Sharma said there was no arrest so far in the case, and the police was groping in the dark.
A number of other women activists including Nita Khetan, president of Sakar Mahila Vikas Samiti, and Nisha Siddhu, state president of National Federation of Indian Women also addressed the gathering.
