Congress today criticised the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan over her controversial remarks on reservation.
"Before making the statement she should have known that the reserved category people still remain exploited and they have not yet got the respect they deserve," Congress's national secretary Sajjan Singh Verma said in a statement.
Congress will not tolerate any changes in the present reservation policy, he said.
Mahajan had said recently that Dr B R Ambedkar had contemplated reservations for the first ten years after which the policy was supposed to be reviewed, which never happened.
She later clarified that she was not against the reservations.
