The Maharashtra Congress today launched a scathing attack in both Houses of State Legislature and held a massive morcha to protest against the "failures" of BJP-Shiv Sena government in last one year.
After mounting attack in the State Legislative Assembly, prompting two adjournments of 10 and 27 minutes and wrapping up the day's proceedings within 30 minutes after second resumption, the Congress took out a protest march from Deekshabhoomi and reached the Vidhan Bhawan.
Severely criticising failures of Devendra Fadanvis government on every front, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Ashok Chavan said the government has failed to provide any relief to the drought hit people in the 14 districts.
"The rise in number of suicides by the farmers, about 3,000 in a year, was a great concern," he said.
"At a time when Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi was talking about 'Make in India', Maharashtra was suffering from 'death in India'. The insensitive government should wave off the crop loan immediately to save the distressed farmers," former Maharashtra Chief Minister Chavan said.
He criticised the government of improper planning for revenue generation and said on the contrary, it has scrapped the Local Body Tax, toll tax and no alternative options were put in place to garner revenue deficit.
"In the days to come the government may face shortfall of revenue and may even not be in a position to pay salaries to state employees," he said.
Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Narayan Rane said the BJP-SS government was not competent enough to hold Assembly session here as it has deceived the people of Maharashtra.
Ridiculing Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse for his anti-Congress remarks, Rane said today's morcha was just a show of strength to display the anger of over 11 crore of people of Maharashtra.
He also fired a salvo at Fadanvis saying the Chief Minister is complaining that the officers (bureaucrats) are not listening to him.
All India Congress Committee secretary in-charge of Maharashtra, Mohan Prakash, former Chief Minister Prithiraj Chavan, former MPCC president Manikrao Thakre, former MP Vilas Muttemwar, Avinash Pande, MP, Opposition Leader in State Assembly Radha Krishna Vikhe Patil were present.
Also seen were Deputy Leader in the State Assembly Vijay Wadettiwar, former Ministers, Satish Chaturvedi, Nitin Raut, Anees Ahmad, Naseem Khan, City Congress president Vikas Thakre and others.
