"I have submitted my resignation to MPCC president Manikrao Thakre who also hails from Yavatmal and dissolved the DCC," Kasawar said, adding that the new District Congress Committee would soon be formed by including disgruntled member, to ensure that it does not affect the party's performance during the forthcoming assembly election.
The Congress suffered a humiliating defeat during the recently held Lok Sabha election and since then, Congressmen had been demanding a review meeting to analyse the cause behind such an unprecedented set back.
However, Kasawar had been delaying it, since he was aware of the wrath of Congressmen about the functioning style of Congress MLAs and other senior leaders.
