Congress today launched a frontal attack on the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and charged him with misleading the people of the country by making false claims about development in Gujarat.
"Modi has been guilty of fudging facts and data to mount his claim as a man of development," Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said on the occasion of the state's first Chief Minister Shri Krishna Singh's 126th birth anniversary celebrations here.
He exuded confidence that only Congress could bring back the days of glory in Bihar.
"The country does not need a leader who divides the people on the lines of caste, creed and religion, but wants a leader who can keep us all united and take us all along," Union Corporate Affairs Minister Sachin Pilot said.
"If the country and its people are united then development will automatically follow, but some leaders want to divide the people " Pilot said.
The democratic and secular fabric of the country would be under serious challenge if Modi succeeded in his endeavour to become the prime minister of country, he said.
Congress alone could take all sections of the people along and cater to their aspirations, he said and highlighted measures like farm loan waiver of Rs 70,000 crore and enactment of Food Security and Land Acquisition Acts as UPA government's major achievements.
