Congress mocks at Modi govt's performance

Mocking at BJP-led NDA government's performance in its first year in office, Congress today said its promises are as exciting as 'T20 boundaries and sixes', but their operationalisation is like an abandoned test match.
"The hiatus and chasm between promises and reality is huge. This (NDA) government plays its announcements and promises like T20 match with exciting sixes and fours... unfortunately operationalisation of those promises is like an abandoned Test match," party spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here.
He was reacting to queries including on reports that India' effort to seek UN Security Council sanctions against Hizbul Mujahideen Chief Syed Salahuddin is facing roadblock from China, which has reportedly threatened to place a technical hold preventing the listing of the terror chief.

He said "Unless we go beyond the optics of reality, and the reality includes troops of China on our borders doing skirmishes while the photo ops are going on. It also includes the example of Salahuddin, but I reserve my comment because if China is seeking nitty-gritty information ... It means that all the effort is a failure."
Singhvi also lashed out at the Centre for the delay in appointing Central Information Commissioner (CIC) and Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC).
"Never before in the history of India have these posts been vacant for so long. It has been now for over six months. Sonia Gandhi has given a very strong intervention on the floor of the House giving facts and figures."

NDA was a "Kisan Virodhi Narendra Modi" (anti-farmers' Narendra Modi), Singhvi charged.

Namo, the acrynom for Modi, stands for 'Non-Agriculture Mal-governance Only', he said.
"The Modi government has forgotten the prefix of the word agriculture. Perhaps, they think of their own definition of culture of nationalism, but not of agriculture," he said.
On the land acquisition ordinance, he said government wants not only to grab farmers' land but also their lives, and hence it is appropriate to call it as "Life Acquisition Ordinance.
