Congress workers staged a rail blockade agitation on Wednesday at the Vijayawada railway station by stopping the Thiruvananthapuram-New Delhi Kerala Express.
The agitation was launched to exert pressure on the Centre to implement all promises made by it in the AP Re-organisation Act.
Former legislator Malladi Vishnu who led the rail blockade agitation said that Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu must apologise to the Telugu people for his remarks on special status for Andhra Pradesh.
Vishnu said that both the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the BJP failed to exert pressure on the Centre to implement the act, particularly its special status provisions.
He said that though the BJP supported the AP Re-organisation Bill as well as special status to Andhra Pradesh when the bill was passed, just before the general elections, the party has changed its position.
He announced that the Congress would intensify its agitation.
