More than ten thousand pen drives used for giving applications for party ticket to municipal corporation elections have been collected at control room of Delhi Congress set up at Rajiv Bhawan, said Naresh Kumar, media coordinator of the party.
"We have collected more than 10,000 applications for tickets to MCD. More are coming as it is the last day," he said.
Delhi Congress had asked party ticket aspirants to submit their applications and biodata in pen drives, by February 15. But the last date was extended the same day due to "unprecedented" response from party workers.
The party has already started preparing for the polls earnestly as compared to its rivals AAP and BJP.
Congress was handed out an ignominious defeat in the 2015 Delhi Assembly polls, in which it drew a blank and now its striving to gain the lost ground in elections for three municipal corporations in the national capital, scheduled in April.
Congress has decided to select the candidates for the polls based on the feedback of booth-level workers. The ticket aspirants have been directed to furnish phone numbers of party workers from each polling booth.
