A man who allegedly tried to fake
a robbery to con Rs 9.85 lakh from his employer has been arrested along with two of his associates, police said today.
According to police, accused Bhupender (27) had hatched a conspiracy to grab his employer's money along with his brother-in-laws Neeraj (24) and Dinesh (27) to pay off his debt. Police have recovered Rs 7.60 lakh along with two two- wheelers, two mobile phones and knife used in crime from their possession.
"On Tuesday, in order to mislead police and his employer, Bhupender made a false call to police control room claiming that he has been injured and robbed off Rs 9.85 lakh by two persons who came on a motorcycle.
"However, during interrogation he confessed to his crime and disclosed involvement of his two accomplices," said DCP (Central) Alok Kumar.
It was also revealed that the actual collected amount that day was Rs 7.6 lakh. Rs. 2.25 Lakh has already been used by Bhupender on previous occasion which he had not been paid to his employer, police said.
"He tried to account for that money also in this incident. He was working as a collection agent in a private firm at Madhu Vihar for three and a half years," Kumar said.
On Tuesday, as per plan Bhupender collected cash from different places while other Neeraj followed him on another two-wheeler. When they reached Rani Jhani Road, Bhupender handed over the cash to Neeraj and inflicted some injuries on him with a knife to mislead the police.
Police recovered Rs 4 lakh from Bhupender's house, while Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1.6 lakh were recovered from houses of Neeraj and Dinesh respectively.
