A delegation led by the East Delhi Mayor today requested Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to consider "regularisation of all unauthorised colonies" under the jurisdiction of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC).
Mayor Meenakshi apprised the Lt Governor of the problems being faced by EDMC in the execution of development works due to non-release of funds under various plans, the civic body said in a release here.
The corporation was not permitted to use the budget for cleaning and sanitation in unauthorised colonies, Meenakshi said. She requested that EDMC be given funds for carrying out development works in unauthorised colonies.
She also requested the LG to consider regularising all unauthorised colonies within its jurisdiction, the release added.
The Mayor also took up with Jung the issue of the salary of councillors and funds for pending schemes of Trans Yamuna Board.
EDMC's income is Rs 900 crore and expenditure is Rs 1,300 crore and Meenakshi requested Jung that a grant of Rs 400 crore be given to the corporation, the release said.
The mayor was accompanied by Leader of the House Ramnarayan Dubey, Standing Committee Chairman BB Tyagi and East Delhi Municipal Commissioner S Kumaraswamy for her meeting with Jung.
She said that many development schemes in East Delhi were pending due to shortage of funds after the Trans Yamuna Board was dissolved.
The Lt Governor assured the EDMC delegation that the issues raised by them would be duly considered, the statement added.
