Animesh Roy (25), a resident of Dum Dum was posted as a traffic sergeant in Thakurpukur in the southern fringes of the city and was on his way to office when his motorcycle was hit by a school bus on Jessore Road, the police said.
The sergeant was rushed to a local medical facility, where doctors declared him dead on arrival, the police said adding, the killer bus has been confiscated.
