The inquiry into the incident, which took place in the early hours of yesterday, is being led by M Ramkumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone XII).
"I am personally probing the incident figuring the complainant (Vadhera), the accused constable and other policemen, who were on duty when it took place. Their statements will be recorded soon," Ramkumar told PTI today.
Ramkumar declined to comment further, saying "There isn't any case registered with the police and only a letter has been given by the complainant."
According to the police, a constable, identified as Hemant Sawant, started inquiring with the car driver about where is he going and from where is he coming.
Subsequently, the constable started asking questions to Vadhera and demanded to see her identification card and address proof, they said, quoting from her letter.
Further, the Constable allegedly made a remark that he "knows what kind of people stay in the Royal Palms area". The policeman then used an offensive term to describe the singer, according to the letter.
Finally, Sawant, attached to Aarey Colony Police Station, let Vadhera go.
