A sub-inspector was shot at and injured by three bike-borne assailants in Barahauli area which comes under the jurisdiction of Alinagar police station, police said today.
Santosh Kumar (45) was fired upon by the three bike-borne assailants while he was on duty last night, leaving him injured, Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Singh said.
The assailants fled from the spot, leaving their bikes behind, the SP said, adding that the two of them were later caught from a nearby farm with the help of locals.
The injured policeman was referred to the BHU Trauma Centre, where his condition is stated to be stable.
A case was registered against the assailants, Singh added.
