Amid muted demand in the domestic spot market, copper prices fell 0.14 per cent to Rs 456.30 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April eased by 65 paise, or 0.14 per cent, to Rs 456.30 per kg, in a business turnover of 4 lots.
On similar lines, the metal for delivery in February was trading 45 paise, or 0.10 per cent, lower at Rs 452.25 per kg in 734 lots.
Marketmen attributed the fall in prices to a low demand in the domestic markets from consuming industries amid profit-booking by participants but a firm trend in metal at the London Metal Exchange (LME) capped the fall.
At the LME, three-month copper gained 0.36 per cent to USD 7,060 per tonne, reversing losses from the previous session.
