Copper prices fell 0.15 per cent to Rs 324.85 per kg in futures market today as speculators indulged in reducing positions after it weakened in global market amid muted demand at domestic spot markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June traded lower by 50 paise, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 324.85 per kg, in a business turnover of 972 lots.
Also, metal for delivery in far-month August was trading 40 paise, or 0.12 per cent down, at Rs 329.35 per kg in 41 lots.
Market analysts said weak trend in overseas markets where copper and other industrial metals extended declines after signs of flagging global economic growth rekindled demand concerns.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months fell as much as 1.1 per cent to USD 4,867 per tonne at the London Metal Exchange.
