Alarmed by the rise in thefts from Automated Teller Machines, city police is considering setting up ATMs in police stations to avoid such crimes, a senior police official said today.
"Setting up ATM kiosks inside the police stations or nearby is being considered as part of Suraksha Setu and Police Mitra programmes to avoid theft and cash snatching incidents from ATMs," Joint Commissioner of Police Ajay Tomar said.
The police department, according to a press statement issued by the city police headquarter, has been earmarked Rs 102 crore to implement Suraksha Setu and Police Mitra schemes.
