Vineeta (18) and Billoo, both residents of Muktpura village here, had an affair for the past few years and yesterday the girl's mother spotted them together, ASP Shrawan Kumar Singh said.
The girl after being scolded by her mother committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house yesterday, he said, adding, few hours later Billoo too took the extreme step.
"We have not received any complaint from either side," Singh said.
Both families left the village after performing the final rites of the couple, he added.
