A court here has directed the BSF to ensure presence of an officer and an constable, accused of killing a teenager in 2010, on August 12 for commencing the trial in the case.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar Rajeev Gupta directed the BSF to produce before him the then commandant R K Birdi and Constable Lakhwinder Kumar who were arrested for killing Zahid Farooq near his home in Nishat area of the city on February 5, 2010.
The BSF authorities transferred records related to the case to the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar on July 12 after the Supreme Court overturned the High Court ruling that the two personnel were on active duty at the time of the incident.
The apex court on April 25 disallowed the trial of Birdi and Kumar in a General Security Force Court.
