According to court sources, during an in-camera hearing, District Judge Amar Nath allowed the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) plea seeking extension of the probe period in the case beyond 90 days.
Sources said the court extended the period of probe against the accused till June 10 and also extended judicial custody of the accused by that time.
During the proceeding, the NIA's plea was opposed by advocate M S Khan, appearing for Shaikh, who said that the probe agency has already got enough time to complete the investigation.
The police's Special Cell had earlier arrested the accused for allegedly having ISIS links and claimed to have unearthed a terror plot to target the Ardh Kumbh Mela at Haridwar, especially the trains headed there, along with some strategic locations in the national capital.
The accused was found to have links with a former Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorist who later went to fight for ISIS, the police had claimed.
