A special CBI court today rejected an anticipatory bail petition of MLA Bandhu Tirkey in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
The court of R K Choudhary rejected the petition filed by the lone MLA of the Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch in the DA case pertaining to Rs 6.5 lakh.
Taking note of the closure report filed in May this year by the CBI following lack of evidence against Tirkey, the court had on August 1 issued summons to Tirkey to place his side in the case.
Tirkey moved a petition on August 12 seeking time, and the court directed him to appear before it on September 13.
Tirkey, who was the HRD minister between 2006 and 2008 during the Madhu Koda-led UPA regime, is now supporting the Hemant Soren-led UPA government.
