A Delhi court today reserved its order on the plea for extension of interim bail by former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda, accused of abetting the suicide of a former airhostess.
Additional Sessions Judge MC Gupta reserved till tommorow his orders on the application moved by Kanda, who was granted interim bail till Oct. 4.
A sitting MLA from Sirsa, Kanda has sought extension of the bail saying he has to attend to constituency work.
He was granted interim bail by the court on Sept. 5 to take part in the Haryana Assembly session on the condition that he would show his attendance in the House.
Kanda had said that this being the last session of the House, he needed to attend it to discharge his obligations towards his constituency.
His co-accused and employee, Aruna Chadha, is also out on interim bail till Nov. 15 to attend religious and family events.
Chadha was arrested on Aug. 8 last year while Kanda had surrendered 10 days later on Aug. 18. The trial in the case began this year on May 27.
Chadha and Kanda are accused of abetting the suicide of a 23-year-old former airhostess who was employed in Kanda's MDLR airlines.
They have also been charged with forgery for cheating and harming the reputation of the victim and under the Information Technology Act for sending fake e-mails to the victim.
The former airhostess was found dead on August 5, 2012, at her Ashok Vihar residence in north west Delhi. In her suicide note, she had said she was ending her life due to "harassment" by Kanda and Chadha.
Police had in its charge sheet said Kanda was obsessed with the victim and was putting pressure on her to come back to his company.
