In fresh trouble for the UP government, a local court has rejected a closure report filed by the police in an alleged embezzlement case involving sitting revenue minister Ambika Chaudhary.
This comes close on the heels of Raghuraj Pratap Singh, alias Raja Bhaiyya, who was holding the portfolio of food and civil supplies, being accused in a case of murder of a police officer, following which he resigned.
The court ordered further investigations in the case involving Chaudhary last evening.
According to prosecution sources, Chaudhary is one of the four accused named in a complaint lodged by one Shivanand of Pachkhora village under Sukhpura area in 2007 for embezzlement and issuing of death threats.
Police had submitted the closure report in court in September 2008, which was challenged by Shivanand.
Chief judicial officer N K Singh, who had on February 22 reserved his orders in the case, last evening rejected the closure report and directed further investigations.
