Newly elected CPI state secretary Prabodh Panda today criticised the CPI(M) leadership for celebrating the 50 years of forming a new political outfit through division of CPI in 1964.
"It is really painful and shameful that CPI(M) is celebrating its 50 years through division of CPI in 1964. When the entire Left movement in India is going through a bad patch, the CPI(M), which is a bigger partner of the Left Front, is celebrating the division. It sends out a wrong message," Panda said here.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is observing the 50th anniversary of its formation. The party that was born at the Seventh Congress held in Kolkata from October 31 to November 7, 1964.
Panda said the CPI(M) should try to take lessons from the mistakes that it committed during the 34 years of Left rule in the state.
"They have admitted a few mistakes. Nandigram was a huge blunder. They should take lessons from their mistakes in order to get back the mass support," Panda said.
