The idea was floated in CPI(M)'s two day state committee meeting on the organisation lacunaes faced by the party.
CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and Politburo member Prakash Karat were today present in CPI(M) state committee meet.
"Today while discussing various aspects of party organisation, it came out that the decision making process and the feedback system is very slow. Then the idea of removing the zonal committee came up. Because most of the members opined that local, district and state committees are enough, there is no need of zonal committees," a CPI(M) state committee member said.
CPI(M) state committee is all set to hold its state plenum session in the month of September.
