The Bhai Vir Singh Marg, where the CPI(M) office is located, was closed for traffic for about two hours due to the BJP's Jan Raksha Yatra to highlight the killing of BJP-RSS workers in Kerala, police said.
Commuters coming from the Mandir Marg towards the Parliament Street had to take alternate routes leading to jams, they said.
The impact was also felt in other areas of the VIP Lutyens' Delhi.
Police said the traffic situation was "a little chaotic" also owing to weekend and the festive rush.
